As Princess Beatrice and Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi prepare to celebrate their sixth wedding anniversary on July 17, renewed scrutiny surrounding the Royal Family has placed fresh attention on their marriage—and prompted questions about the importance of maintaining close ties within the monarchy.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams suggested that Edoardo’s personal and professional interests may both benefit from maintaining positive royal connections.
“Edo clearly has a vested interest in steering a stable ship, with a firm like Banda Property reliant on reputation,” Fitzwilliams said.
“Good relations with the Waleses, therefore, have an added importance for him.”
The comments come after Edoardo recently publicly praised Princess Catherine following her participation in the Three Peaks Challenge, a gesture that attracted attention amid reports suggesting Catherine has not always been particularly close to either Princess Beatrice or Princess Eugenie.
Beatrice was 31 when she married Edoardo, now 42, in a scaled-back ceremony after the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of their original wedding plans. Only around 20 guests attended the private celebration, which took place against the difficult backdrop of growing controversy surrounding Beatrice’s father, Prince Andrew.
