Scotty McCreery turned his Oklahoma City concert into a sweet family moment when he invited his 3-year-old son, Avery, to join him onstage.
The American Idol winner was performing as the opening act for Cody Johnson at Paycom Center when he walked over to the side of the stage to bring his little boy into the spotlight.
Avery happily took his dad’s hand and walked with him toward the center of the stage.

Once they reached the middle, McCreery got down to his son’s level and continued performing his 2024 hit Cab in a Solo.
The crowd got an even sweeter surprise near the end of the song.
McCreery looked at Avery and asked, “Want to sing it, buddy?”

The toddler confidently joined his dad and sang the final line of the song for the audience.
The proud father then laughed and told the crowd, “It’s bedtime, y’all,” before walking his son offstage.
The adorable moment gave fans a glimpse of McCreery’s life away from the spotlight. The country star and his wife, Gabi, are also parents to Oliver, who turns one in September.

Scotty McCreery celebrates 15 years since American Idol win
Avery’s surprise appearance comes shortly after McCreery released his latest album, 15, in July.
The project celebrates 15 years since the singer won American Idol and looks back at the journey that followed his breakthrough on the show.
Rather than simply focusing on his career, McCreery said the album reflects the many people and experiences that have shaped his life, including his family at home, his road family and the people he has met in Nashville.
“15 is looking back on where I started, how young I was, where I’ve come, family I’ve got back home, the family I have on the road with me, and the family I have in Nashville,” McCreery explained.
The singer also said the anniversary gave him a chance to slow down and appreciate how far he has come.
In a music industry that constantly pushes artists toward the next release, the next show and the next big achievement, McCreery said he wanted to take a moment to appreciate his journey.
And his family appears to be an important part of that journey.
McCreery wants his music to make a difference
Looking ahead, McCreery said his biggest goal is simple: keep making music that means something to people.
He hopes his songs can make fans enjoy a night out, celebrate special moments like weddings or find comfort when they are going through difficult times.
The country star also hopes to still be writing music, touring and performing for fans 15 years from now.
For now, though, one of his most memorable performances may be the one where he shared the stage with his youngest audience member.
Avery may only be 3, but he already knows how to steal the spotlight from his dad.
