LOS ANGELES – Most actors spend years crafting a carefully curated public image.

Hudson Williams decided to throw that playbook out the window – and then set it on fire.

The 24-year-old Canadian star of Heated Rivalry, HBO Max’s unexpected queer hockey romance that has become a genuine cultural phenomenon, has built a reputation for saying absolutely anything that comes into his head during press appearances.

And a newly surfaced compilation of his ‘most unhinged moments’ proves exactly why fans can’t get enough of him.

THE ‘PENALTY BOX’ SEGMENT THAT WENT OFF THE RAILS

The footage, which appears to come from a promotional shoot for the Crave original series (now streaming on HBO Max), shows Williams and co-star Connor Storrie participating in a segment called ‘Penalty Box’ – and it descends into glorious chaos within seconds.

At one point, Williams dramatically reclines his seat and delivers a deadpan declaration aimed at Storrie’s knees.

‘I’m reclining my seat and your knees can eat it,’ Williams says without cracking a smile. ‘They can do what they want with that.’

When the topic shifts to pet names, Williams doesn’t hold back.

‘If you name a human a pet name, I’m going to throw up in my mouth,’ he announces.

The crew can be heard laughing off-camera. Williams remains completely serious.

Later, when asked to pose for a specific shot, the actor offers a sleepy wink that he immediately admits looks ‘more like a stroke.’

‘Did you wink or no?’ someone asks.

‘I think I sleepily winked,’ Williams responds. ‘Like I think it looks more like a stroke.’

‘I LOOK DEAD ON THE INSIDE’

The unscripted segment captures Williams in rare form – oscillating between bizarre physical comedy and unexpected emotional honesty.

At one point, he stares blankly at the camera and offers a confession that seems to come from nowhere.

‘I look dead on the inside,’ he says flatly.

Later, reflecting on the show’s impending wrap, Williams admits the experience has affected him more than he expected.

‘It started to feel like this was ending and this wouldn’t just be my life for the next years until I’m old and gray,’ he says. ‘It made me sad. I’m going to fall into a sadness after this show wraps.’

Then, almost immediately, he bursts into laughter with Storrie – undercutting the vulnerability with his signature chaos.

THE OSCARS ‘SEX’ TEASE THAT BROKE THE INTERNET

This isn’t the first time Williams has left the internet stunned.

At the 2026 Oscars in March, Williams – looking sleek in an all-black Balenciaga suit – was asked what fans could expect from the upcoming second season of Heated Rivalry.

His answer was one word: ‘Sex.’

The brief comment sent social media into a frenzy.

‘He is so unreal I will cry,’ one fan wrote on X (formerly Twitter). ‘He can’t even keep his unhinged mind in his pocket even for the Oscars!!! No one can make me hate this man. Never change Hudson Williams!!’

Another fan simply declared: ‘He is the most unhinged person I have ever seen.’

THE GOLDEN GLOBES INTERVIEW THAT LEFT GAYLE KING SPEECHLESS

Just months earlier, at the 2026 Golden Globes, Williams delivered another NSFW moment that became instantly iconic.

Speaking with Gayle King on the red carpet, the CBS host asked Williams to describe his perfect first date.

His response?

‘Good conversation, good laughing… and good f*ing!’**

King was briefly rendered speechless as Williams grinned.

Earlier in the same interview, when King mentioned that fans had been eagerly awaiting his arrival on the carpet – ‘They’re coming! They’re coming!’ – Williams quipped: ‘Yeah, we do that a lot.’

The double entendre was not lost on anyone watching.

FANS CAN’T GET ENOUGH OF ‘CHAOS HUDSON’

The actor’s unapologetically unfiltered press style has earned him a devoted following who refer to themselves as fans of ‘Chaos Hudson.’

‘He’s so serious and not at the same time!’ one fan wrote after the Oscars incident.

‘He surely knows his audience,’ another added.

The response marks a dramatic shift from Williams’ initial discomfort with fame. Just months ago, he told King that his sudden rise had felt ‘overwhelming’ before adding: ‘Now it’s starting to feel a little bit more gratifying.’

‘I’m just a lot more thankful,’ he explained. ‘I just know in this industry it can go up, down, sideways, so in this moment I just want to relax and take things in without glazed eyes.’

THE CHEMISTRY THAT STARTED IT ALL

Williams’ unhinged persona is inextricably linked to his partnership with Connor Storrie, 25, who plays his on-screen love interest Ilya Rozanov.

The pair’s chemistry has been widely credited as the driving force behind Heated Rivalry’s explosive success. The six-episode series, which premiered on HBO Max in late 2025 with little advance promotion, has since surpassed 10.6 million viewers in the US alone – more than doubling its audience since the finale aired.

Storrie recently addressed their dynamic in a cover story for Vogue Adria.

‘The chemistry between Hudson and me. We genuinely love and understand each other, and I think that shows,’ Storrie said.

That genuine connection is on full display in the ‘Penalty Box’ footage, where the two actors constantly crack each other up – at one point descending into helpless laughter after Williams attempts (and fails) to execute a ‘gimmick.’

FROM OBSCURITY TO OBSESSION

The show’s path to cultural dominance has been anything but conventional.

Warner Bros. Discovery reportedly announced the HBO Max premiere just nine days before air date, and critics were initially only sent the first two episodes.

But word-of-mouth spread like wildfire.

The Hollywood Reporter noted that the show’s ‘initial obscurity meant fans came to it at different times, stretching the buzz way past what you’d expect from a slim six-episode run.’

Williams and Storrie went from ‘two dudes no one had heard of to the hottest young stars in the biz’ virtually overnight.

WHAT’S NEXT FOR THE ‘UNHINGED’ STAR

Filming for Heated Rivalry Season 2 is set to begin this summer, with a reported release planned for 2027.

Williams has also signed with CAA for representation and made his late-night debut on The Tonight Show With Jimmy Fallon in January.

He has been announced as one of Balenciaga’s newest ambassadors, cementing his status as a rising fashion icon.

But for now, fans are simply grateful for the chaos.

As one social media user wrote after the ‘Penalty Box’ footage surfaced: ‘No one can make me hate this man.’

Given Williams’ apparent commitment to saying exactly what’s on his mind – regardless of where he is or who’s listening – that sentiment seems likely to be tested many more times in the years to come.

What do YOU think? Is Hudson Williams’ ‘unhinged’ persona refreshingly authentic – or is he trying too hard? And what are you hoping to see in Heated Rivalry Season 2? Let us know in the comments below.
