Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani will not be returning to The Voice for its milestone 30th season, despite reports that NBC had hoped to bring the couple back alongside former coaches Adam Levine and Kelly Clarkson.
According to a source cited by The U.S. Sun, NBC had been interested in reuniting the longtime Voice favorites and had made offers to both stars. Their schedules also appeared to leave room for a return, but the planned comeback ultimately did not happen.
NBC Reportedly Wanted the Duo Back
The source claimed that NBC was eager to have Shelton and Stefani return for Season 30, with the network reportedly prepared to accommodate their schedules.
“Something on Blake and Gwen’s side derailed all of that and they decided not to return to the show,” the source said.
The insider also claimed that the decision did not come from NBC and that the network would still welcome the couple back.
NBC was contacted for comment, but the article did not include a response.

Instead of Shelton and Stefani, the Season 30 coaching lineup will feature Adam Levine, Kelly Clarkson, Queen Latifah and Riley Green.
Their Schedules Had Appeared to Leave Room
The reported change is notable because both Shelton and Stefani had commitments that seemed capable of fitting around the production schedule.
Stefani, 56, is performing with No Doubt during a Las Vegas residency at The Sphere. The residency began earlier in May and includes dates through June.
Shelton, 49, is also performing in Las Vegas, with his residency at Caesars Palace’s Colosseum running through late May. His summer touring schedule includes dates in July and August.

According to the report, both artists would have had clearer schedules in early August, around the period when previous seasons of The Voice were filmed.
That timing had appeared to make a Season 30 return possible, particularly for an anniversary season expected to lean into the show’s history.
Blake Shelton’s Long History With The Voice
Shelton was part of The Voice from its beginning in 2011, joining Christina Aguilera, CeeLo Green and Adam Levine as one of the original coaches.
Over the course of his time on the show, Shelton became one of its most recognizable figures and coached nine winning artists.
He eventually announced his departure and left the coaching panel after Season 23 in 2023, ending more than a decade with the franchise.
Stefani joined the show during Season 7 in 2014. Her appearances became particularly memorable because of her developing relationship with Shelton.

The two became romantically involved in 2015 after both went through highly publicized divorces. They later married in July 2021 at Shelton’s Oklahoma ranch.
Gwen Stefani Has Also Been Away From the Show
Although Stefani continued to return for select seasons following Shelton’s departure, she has not served as a coach since Season 26.
Her absence, combined with Shelton’s departure, meant that a reunion between the couple and longtime Voice colleagues Levine and Clarkson would have marked a significant return for the franchise.

That reunion will not happen in Season 30, however. Instead, Queen Latifah and Riley Green will join Levine and Clarkson as the newest coaching lineup.
For now, the reason Shelton and Stefani ultimately decided against returning remains unclear, with the available report only stating that something on their side caused the proposed comeback to fall through.
