Lewis Hamilton has spent months keeping his personal life firmly out of the spotlight, but ahead of the British Grand Prix, the Ferrari driver surprised fans by making a rare public comment that appeared to acknowledge his rumored romance with Kim Kardashian.
The 41-year-old Formula 1 champion was taking part in a fan Q&A on July 3 when the conversation turned from racing to his private life. After an interviewer remarked that Hamilton seemed like “a much happier man this year,” someone in the audience jokingly asked whether that was because of his “fast car or new girlfriend.”
Instead of avoiding the question, Hamilton responded with a smile.
“That’s a good one,” he said before shifting the focus to his first season with Ferrari, calling the legendary Italian team “the most iconic team of all time.”
He praised the organization for welcoming him during what he admitted had been a challenging transition.
“Once you spend a year with this team, Ferrari is still the most iconic team of all-time. They’ve had a difficult period of time. It’s such an amazing team, and they’ve been so welcoming,” Hamilton explained.
Reflecting on the season, he acknowledged the difficulties of adapting to a new environment while celebrating the progress the team has made.
“The first year was obviously very tough, but for us to finally see the hard work that we’ve all been putting in get us back to where we want to be and of course, of course, Kim,” he added, drawing laughs from the audience.
The brief comment marked a notable shift for Hamilton, who has consistently declined to discuss his relationship status in recent months.
Earlier this year during Super Bowl 2026, Hamilton shut down speculation when asked about Kardashian, telling Sky Sports reporter Ted Kravitz, “It’s my private life. I’m not talking about that.”
The seven-time world champion has previously explained why he prefers to keep his relationships away from public attention.
Speaking to RTBF in 2025, Hamilton said balancing racing with a personal life has never been easy.
“Yes, it’s very complicated, especially in today’s world,” he said. “I see other drivers and I wonder how they manage. Some have children, are married, have girlfriends. I went through that in my twenties. I made a different choice: I decided to maximize the time I have here because it’s shorter than people think. I don’t want any regrets, or to think I could have given more.”
While Hamilton has remained largely private, Kim Kardashian recently appeared to take a more public approach to their rumored relationship.
On June 1, the SKIMS founder shared an Instagram post simply captioned “lately,” which included photos of the pair riding bicycles together along New York City’s West Side Highway, fueling speculation that they had officially confirmed their romance.
Before the Hamilton rumors, Kardashian’s dating life had remained a frequent topic of public interest. Following her relationship with Pete Davidson, she was briefly linked to Tom Brady, though reports maintained they were only friends with shared business connections. She later dated Odell Beckham Jr. before the pair reportedly split in April 2024.
Sources have previously said Kardashian remains open to finding love with the right person, and by early 2026, speculation surrounding Hamilton had only continued to grow.
Although Hamilton still isn’t revealing much about his private life, his playful acknowledgment during the British Grand Prix fan event was enough to get fans talking, offering a rare glimpse into a side of the racing superstar he has long chosen to keep out of the public eye.
