Pop star Delta Goodrem has been forced to withdraw from the upcoming Strictly Come Dancing live broadcast following a severe rib injury, just days after dominating the leaderboard.

The 41-year-old singer and her professional dance partner, Kai Widdrington, will sit out this weekend’s Icons Week competition. Goodrem, who had planned to perform as Olivia Newton-John, sustained the injury during training last week but powered through the pain to deliver a stellar Salsa that earned 33 points—the highest score of the current series. However, her condition worsened significantly after the show, requiring a visit to A&E and subsequent medical treatment.

In accordance with competition guidelines, Goodrem and Widdrington have been granted an automatic bye into the following week, giving the singer crucial recovery time under doctor’s orders. In a statement shared on It Takes Two, Goodrem expressed heartbreak over sitting out the episode while praising her supporters and vowing to cheer on her fellow contestants from the sidelines.
