Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s lavish New York wedding may have featured a star-studded guest list, unforgettable performances and glamorous décor, but according to former NFL quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick, one unexpected moment stole the entire show.
The retired NFL star, who attended the July 3 celebration at Madison Square Garden with his wife of 20 years, Liza, has opened up about the blockbuster event, describing it as one of the most impressive weddings he has ever attended.
“We were very excited to get the invite and very privileged to be there,” Fitzpatrick told People while attending the ACC Golf Championship in Lake Tahoe. “They did everything top notch.”

The former New York Jets and Buffalo Bills quarterback admitted he was still recovering from the reception days later after spending “six-plus hours of dancing.”
Although Fitzpatrick praised every aspect of the celebration, he revealed one surprise appearance had the entire crowd in disbelief.
“When Adam Sandler walked out—it had everybody floored. That was really cool,” he said, referring to the actor’s unexpected role as the couple’s wedding officiant. “The ceremony was beautiful.”
He also described dancing with his wife throughout the evening as a “magical” experience.
The highly secretive ceremony took place at Madison Square Garden before approximately 1,000 guests from the worlds of entertainment, sports and business. Following the ceremony, the venue’s giant marquee lit up with the message “JUST&T MARRIED,” confirming the couple had officially tied the knot after months of speculation.
Rather than having a traditional bridal party, the newlyweds chose close family members to stand beside them. Taylor’s younger brother, Austin Swift, served as her Man of Honor, while Travis’ older brother, Jason Kelce, took on Best Man duties.
Taylor wore a custom Christian Dior Haute Couture wedding gown designed by Jonathan Anderson, paired with bespoke Christian Louboutin shoes and Cartier jewelry. Travis also wore a custom Dior Haute Couture look for the ceremony.
The guest list featured an impressive lineup of celebrities, including Bradley Cooper, Zoe Kravitz, Hugh Grant, Ethan Hawke, Gigi Hadid, Karlie Kloss, Chris Rock, Steven Spielberg, Camila Cabello and author Jenny Han.
Several NFL stars were also in attendance, including Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, former Chiefs wide receiver Mecole Hardman, Seattle Seahawks receiver Cooper Kupp, quarterback Baker Mayfield, Raiders tight ends coach Luke Steckel and numerous Kansas City Chiefs teammates.

NFL broadcasters Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson—widely credited with encouraging Swift and Kelce’s romance in its early stages—were also among the invited guests.
Despite the enormous celebration, not everyone in Kelce’s football circle received an invitation, reportedly creating tension behind the scenes.
According to reports, Thursday night’s rehearsal dinner was limited to roughly 100 of the couple’s closest friends and family, leaving some Chiefs players disappointed when they learned they would only attend Friday’s main celebration.
Former NFL players and podcasters Taylor Lewan and Will Compton later revealed they had not been invited to either event despite considering themselves close friends of Kelce.
Compton admitted he was “flabbergasted” by the omission, while Lewan questioned whether being left off the guest list felt like “a personal shot.”
Even so, those fortunate enough to attend continue to describe the wedding as an unforgettable celebration, with Fitzpatrick’s account of Adam Sandler’s surprise appearance adding yet another memorable detail to one of the year’s most talked-about celebrity events.
