Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce went to extraordinary lengths to keep their July 3 wedding under wraps, but the celebration continues to generate headlines as surprising new stories emerge days after the star-studded event.
From celebrities revealing why they skipped the wedding to former NFL players questioning why they weren’t invited, and even sellers attempting to profit from alleged trash collected outside Madison Square Garden, the couple’s lavish celebration has taken on a life of its own.
A Wedding Few Could Attend
Swift and Kelce exchanged vows before approximately 1,000 guests at Madison Square Garden, according to a representative for the pop superstar.
Rather than choosing a traditional bridal party, the couple kept the ceremony personal. Taylor’s brother, Austin Swift, served as her “Man of Honor,” while Travis’ brother, Jason Kelce, took on the role of Best Man.
Despite the massive guest list, plenty of familiar names didn’t make the final cut—or couldn’t attend.
Former NFL players Will Compton and Taylor Lewan jokingly questioned why they weren’t invited after the ceremony.

Appearing on Wake Up Barstool, Compton admitted he was “kinda flabbergasted,” while Lewan later joked on Bussin’ With The Boys that after more than a decade of friendship with Kelce, he wondered if he had somehow done something wrong.
Meanwhile, Charles Barkley revealed he actually received an invitation but politely turned it down.
Speaking on Unfiltered with Ricky Bo & Bill Colarulo, Barkley explained, “I don’t go to weddings or funerals,” adding that he expected the event would become “a crap show.” While praising both Travis and Jason Kelce, he admitted he preferred spending his time golfing instead of dressing up for a huge celebration.
Legendary singer-songwriter James Taylor, whose name famously inspired Taylor Swift’s parents when naming their daughter, also declined because he was committed to performing his annual Independence Day concert at Tanglewood.
During the performance, he wished the newlyweds “all happiness and smooth sailing and strength when it can’t be smooth.”
Television host Ryan Seacrest was another notable absentee.
The American Idol host explained on his radio show that work obligations forced him to cancel after carefully trying to make both commitments fit into his schedule.
“I couldn’t have done both,” Seacrest said, adding that he had gone over the timing minute by minute before accepting it simply wasn’t possible.
Privacy Was a Top Priority
Swift and Kelce made privacy one of the biggest priorities throughout their wedding day.
According to People, guests were required to place their phones inside individually locked glass boxes upon arrival, receiving keys so they could retrieve them later.
The couple also shielded the venue by covering Madison Square Garden’s windows with drapes, while guests arrived inside vehicles that entered through an enclosed tent before being privately escorted into the celebration.
Now People Are Selling Alleged Wedding Souvenirs
Despite those precautions, entrepreneurs have already begun attempting to cash in on the wedding’s popularity.
According to TMZ, the website New York City Garbage is selling items it claims were collected outside Madison Square Garden after the celebration.
Listings reportedly include pieces of fabric priced at $25, soda can tabs, and even a single AirPod, all described as items found on nearby New York City streets following the wedding.
Perhaps the most unusual listing is a bag of air allegedly collected from inside Madison Square Garden during the celebration.
The seller has listed it for $49,999.99, and TMZ reported that the listing had already attracted more than 200 views.

Designer Fashion and Luxury Giveaways
Swift’s representative also confirmed that both the bride and groom wore Christian Dior Haute Couture, with their wedding looks designed by Jonathan Anderson.
The singer completed her bridal ensemble with Cartier jewelry.
“It was a joy to work with her,” Anderson told WWD. “We became very good friends.”
He also revealed that Swift’s gown marked the first couture wedding dress he has designed for an A-list celebrity.
During the reception, guests reportedly competed in games to earn raffle tickets for luxury prizes.
According to NBC News, prizes included designer handbags and even a 1970 Chevrolet Chevelle, similar to the car Swift and Kelce rode in during their first public outing together in 2023.
Jackie Tranquill, wife of Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Drue Tranquill, shared a photo of her winning Chanel handbag on Instagram, while Page Six reported that Avril Lavigne also walked away with a Chanel prize.

Champagne Debate and Late-Night Pizza
Not every report from the reception has agreed.
While the Daily Mail claimed champagne ran out early during the evening, celebrity gossip outlet Deuxmoi disputed the report, saying sources insisted there was no shortage and that multiple cases of champagne reportedly remained after the celebration ended.
One detail that does appear consistent is the couple’s late-night food order.
Reports claim Swift and Kelce ordered more than 100 pizzas from Mama’s TOO!, a popular New York City pizzeria known for both classic and specialty slices.
According to Us Weekly, guests enjoyed a wide selection that included the restaurant’s House Pie, Classic Pepperoni, Angry Nonna, and several other favorites as the celebration continued late into the night.
Although Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce worked hard to keep their wedding private, the stories surrounding the celebration continue to surface—from celebrity reactions and luxury giveaways to unusual memorabilia listings that prove fans are eager to own even the smallest piece of the event.
